Coming to a Tea Party near you.

For all you girls that dreamt and fantasized at a young age about Rainbows, Unicorns, and Cotton Candy, you can now dance on the clouds with excitement for this post. My childhood fantasy has now come true to resemble the mane of My Little Pony... As I’m sure you have all noticed there has been a burst of colour in the fashion world. No I’m not talking about prints and patterns here, I'm talking HAIR! We all know this is not anything new on the street, as the punk and rock&roll world have called it their own for ages. But what I find fascinating is how the high fashion crowed has put their own spin on it and created a new trend with shades of pastels and light neons. Givenchy is a great example with their Fall 2010 campaign highlighting this, as well as Vivienne Westwood herself! Not to mention all the power house magazines can’t get enough. I’m just so tickled with this new attitude, everyone is finally having fun with fashion again!

This is me a few months back.

Beautiful.

I stumbled across this old Italian Vogue editorial and had to share. At first I wasn't going to post it, but somthing about it stuck with me that kept me going back. Maybe it's her haunting eyes, or the feeling of her sultry settle rebellion that pulled me in. Whatever the reason, I now love Natalia Vodianova and photograhper Paolo Roversi. Pure Magic.

She's over bored and self assured.

Hello, hello, hello, how low?

It brings me and bit of pain but more pleasure to zone in one the one trend we Love to trash. With Kurt Cobain as the pioneer of 90’s grunge it’s easier to love than hate the unwashed, baggy and most of the time mismatched style. Unlike most dumb dumb fads every copy cat Frankenstein can easily duplicate, this is one look, I believe can only be mastered by the fashion prodigies of today. Alexander Mcqueen left us with one last glimpse into his masterful mind and built a collection based on grunge. Charlotte Ronson also explored last decade in a bit more settle but equally amazing way. Street style has also jumped in head first, combat boots, big knits, plaid, streaked hair, leather, and denim vests, all this mixed and match together equal awesomeness!

Favorite Things.

Like Oprah I too have a favorite things list. Though I am not handing out flat screen tv's and Burberry bags, I hope my list will do nothing more than inspire. I'm sure many of you like myself, pull their style from many different influences like Art, Music, Photography, Fashion and people. Depending on the music I am listening to, the art I’m hanging in my house, even the color I am painting my walls, they all contribute to the cloths I am wearing and the mood I am trying to portray through them. I love nothing more than seeing a picture in a magazine or a person walking down the street and re interpreting their fashion and outlook in my own individual way. From now on I am going to try and do a new favorite things post once a week for your viewing pleasure, and I hope at least one of you will pull from my passions and create your personal pallet.

Across the pond

3 Cities, 5 planes, 2 trains and 26 hours of traveling later, I have finally touched down on home soil. My whirlwind trip has regretfully come to an end and I am forced to throw myself back into reality. I am both ecstatic and grateful to report I have had my first taste of the overseas fashion life. From sales meetings in Manchester, and my first big fashion show, I now know the sweet flavor of what’s hopefully to become my future. Besides the 3 day vacation my luggage decided to take without me I would say this trip was a top notch experience. This Bench international conference brought together sales teams from all over the world. Together we previewed the upcoming Spring 11 collection, which in my opinion is this best yet. Hitting spot on trends for the fashion savvy, yet keeping its commercial marketability, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. The fashion show was a whole other beast in itself, front row, 3D disco, and a surprise performance by DJ Calvin Harris, wooza! Ending my European leg with a few day stint in London, I literally shopped till I dropped ( not use to wearing flats all day I pulled something in my leg…) but pulled through and stocked up at my favorites Top Shop, River Island, and Primark. With a satisfied grin on my face, 7 new pairs of shoes, and a extremely over weight bag I hopped on a plane to LA. No work was done there but a lot of family and friends fun was had. I will always love this city and pretend it’s home. All in all this was a great adventure and I can’t wait to see what this crazy business throws my way next. Milan perhaps?
