It never ceases to amaze me how fashion has the ability to repeat yet reinvent itself. Everything that has once been shunned by the fashion ellet, has come back with vengeance to make its mark on the new era. Bridget Bardot has been an inspiration of mine for ages, and is a prime example of yesterday becoming today. She is the ultimate flower child and style icon in my eyes. Even though its 2010 I still like to pretend its 1969, and socially expectable to walk around bare foot making daisy chains and preach about my love for Sex, Drug, and Rock and Roll. I pulled some of my favorite picture from yesteryear to share with you. Hope you love them as much as I do.

Military Movement
As we roll though Spring we are seeing an EXPLOSION of cargo. On the flip side of popular frills and flowers, we have these boyish yet clean cuts of cargo. With boyfriend jeans and dress shirts now staple items for females, it’s no surprise the two went to bed together and created a love child of military goodness. Balmain dominated the S/S 2010 runway and set the standards high. Not only is this a high fashion trend, it is something that fits into so many people’s life styles. Old Navy, H&M, and the Gap (to name a few) have all hit the ground running and created cheap but crafty versions of this trend at a price we can all afford. Move over guys, screw the boys club, the ladies have officially infiltrated your wardrobes.

Child's Play
From butterflies and birds, boyish collars and bows. This season the common theme behind most designers are girly pastels mixed with boys frills. Patterns that I would have found in my closet at the tender age of 5, have been modernized and made into what I think, is the most exacting trend the season. Coming from Fall and Winter we had studs dangling from our shoulders that weighed more than my car (not that I didn’t love them) to girly, light and clean its breath of fresh air. I now feel like a lady again.

Big bets and even bigger hats!
Last summer the big buzz was around the Vancouver Hastings Racetrack. I never got the chance to go, so as soon as it opened again we were on it like beez’s to honey. I can never pass up an opportunity to put on my Sunday best, have some casual yet classy glasses of champagne, and bake away in the sun. What better occasion to start hopefully a long Sunday tradition than the celebration of my best friend Frankie’s birthday. With several of my closet friends, we spent the day placing small and very uneducated bets on horses by the names of Options Baby, Shiny Dice, Shewantsrevenge and my personal favorite Katie is eating. Though the names of the horses were quite entertaining, I highly suggest when you head to the track don’t base your picks merely on the names…
Denim on Denim.
The Canadian Tuxedo is back and hotter than ever! We may have police on horses, ride around with dogs pulling us, and live in circular shaped ice houses...but that does not stop us from rocking the once tacky but now classic denim on denim. After many years of taking flack for our excelled sense of style, our uniform is all over the runway and streets of the world.
